Chocolate Orange Tiffin for the start of the Great British Bake Off

It's decidedly understated, the contestants have struck the curious balance of eclectic and completely normal and the commentary is packed with wit and double entendre worthy of a carry on at times (soggy bottoms indeed!)

Yes, the most quintessentially British show is back. The fourth series of The Great British Bake Off has kicked off this evening and despite the unprecedented number of finger and thumb lacerations I was compelled into my teeny tiny kitchen with my apron tied firmly in place. The fruits of my labour being a tropical tiffin (or fridge cake). Rather delish but incredibly rich, this isn't really one for seconds, well maybe not thirds!

Chocolate Orange Tiffin Recipe with a Tropical Twist

300g butter
1 Terry's chocolate orange
100g dark chocolate
25g cocoa powder
100g golden syrup
Rind of two lemons
300g ginger snaps (broken into small chunks)
50g desiccated coconut
150g digestive biscuits (broken into small chunks)
100g dried pineapple (small diced)

1. Put the butter, chocolate, cocoa powder and syrup in a pan over a low heat until melted.

2. Stir in the rest of the ingredients.

3. Pour into a lined tin and put in the fridge to set for at least 4-5 hours or overnight.

4. Cut into squares and serve.

Next week I'll actually bake something as opposed for opting for a fridge set delight but this is an ideal recipe if you have an urge to get in the kitchen and create at 9 in the evening.
